I have never mounted anything taxidermy before so taking on a coyote was both exciting and nerve racking. I am really fond of the lip tucking job as well as the eyes. I've been adjusting them over the past 4-5 hours while that area dried so they would stay how I wanted. I've been slowly studying and practicing for about 4 years and finally got up the courage and materials to make a traditional mount. After working with a fully mountable cape I cannot imagine why anyone would want to work with anything less than something not mountable. Having all of that lip and eye matter oh my gosh <3 I will post more shots once everything has set and dried.

I have never really understood what it means to make a mount, and all i can think of is like.. mounting (or is it mounding?) a horse, and that has to be pretty wrong x)

It's... different. There were many aspects of doing a taxidermy mount that felt similar to making a fursuit yet a completely different game entirely. It was to say the least though an enjoyable challenge as it's provided me with a source of extremely handy references now.

Must be a pretty nice reference in both ways indeed.

You picked the perfect eye color. You're smart to have waited until you had as much knowledge as you could absorb before starting the project.

The eyes were bought a good few months before with another coyote in mind. I wanted to make something I would be really proud of, not have to post only certain shots that make it look good.
