Commissioned partial suit (will get pictures of paws, arms, feet, and tail later) of :iconrexy-boi:'s character, Rex! He's a dobe pit mix. Snagged shots of him today cause it wasn't raining at the moment and I really wanted to get shots up.
This mask features: Foam/balaclava head base w/ moving jaw Toon following eyes Custom made latex nose Hand detailed latex scar silver piercing in left ear Hand wefted kanekelon mowhawk Super floppy right ear
Sooo love how he turned out. First toon head I've ever made with seal fur and I love it. 95% machine sewn with a hidden zipper on the side.
The middle bottom shot seriously makes his muzzle look tiny! Silly sunshine, you goof things up for my cheap camera X3
*-* oh wow that is so beautiful hopefully my first fursuit will look good haha. Do you do any tutorials oh your eyes? I would love on how to make them they are so gorgeous <3
Sharpe, I have a future fursuit concept that's going to be a pretty penny. With the amount of faux hair (The really flashy expensive kind) It will top into about 300 dollars or more to make it, probably. How do you go about deciding how much faux hair is needed on a fullsuit? I don't know if you've had any commissions that had an afro's-worth of hair glued to the head, but I don't know how to even go about counting the units it comes in and applying it the location I want it on the fursuit. I don't know how to do that. I don't want to spend more than I need. This guy looks good though. How to do you get faux hair to stand on it, like to "Flare" in that manner? I plan to have a BIG FLARING MANE on the back of my fullsuit when I make it and I want it do flare out, but to drape, naturally all the same. I want it to look natural and I don't know how to go about doing that, either, lol. All in all, this guy looks great and since you do realistic, mostly, your style kinda falls into where I want mine to be if I do go toony. A very "Advanced" toon-style. Maybe even "Fusion." persay. I like it though!
If you're wanting to get somethin' to stand up a ton, I'd recommend using horsehair. That's extremely thick, natural, and will give you the result yer wanting. Blending it in with a faux fiber takes patience, but it is possible.
For a full suit, I usually figure 4 yards for someone 5ft, 5-6 for 5'5-6ft, and 6-7 for a super tall person/stilts/quadsuit.
Oh! yeah, I've seen a lot of people use horse hair. After a lot of it, does it get weighty? I think that's a good question to ask. If you wanted to dance in your suit, would it come out ,eventually? Lol. Okay I'm about 5'6 or 5'7. That should do. I've got long legs though, so that's where most of my height comes from. Thanks for the reply!
Not sure if I'd use it on the entire suit as that would get super costly really quickly. I'd just use it upon the head. As for weight and endurance, I have it both upon my toon suit and quad and it's holding up well. If any long fibers will be upon the body I'd suggest Kanekelon.
