I have a couple of questions :?
What is the best way to trim the fur to the length you want?
How do you add colour to the fur (eg tiger stripes)?
Thanks

For a beginner, (well, not just novice, but for everyone)I would highly recommend a pair of electric hair trimmers. As you get more experienced, you can move to scissors. Color can be added a few ways. Koda here was entirely airbrushed. You can dry brush as well (apply the paint directly to the fur, wet it with a paper towel/etc. and brush it all directions till dry). Dying doesn't really work since the fur fibers are synthetic and won't hold the dye.

wow thanks, are there any particular paints that are good to use?

Acrylic. Cheapest. Unless you have an airbrush, then there's airbrush ink. But Acrylic is usually the best way to go in my opinion.

I used an airbrush and acrylic paints (watered down). One can use pigments and inks as well.

Thanks I may have to take you up on the offer. A big portion of the head is black while the other is white, so would it be easier to airbrush white on black in a few places, or just make everything needing to be airbrushed white?

Make that wich will be black (back of the head, etc.) and make the face white, and I can airbrush the rest. :)

My parents will actually be going up to Rexburg tomorrow, and I bet I could finish the parts that need to be airbrushed. It's short notice, but what do you say. Note me, I suppose, and I could go up with them after my school.

This...is....AMAZING!!I love how you did the markings on the fur! haha They just blend so well! Very realistic indeed, and he's...just...man, first time I've been jealous of another fursuit head since getting Morningdew from you XD (BUT SHE'S STILL AWESOME! lol I saw other furries at the anime convention, and while their heads were neat, I couldn't help but to think, "Mine's better", haha...your work is AMAZING!)
