I've got a little thing going on right now I'm needing some advice with. Looking for both sides of the spectrum possibly so I can plan the best course of action.
I took on a second set of hands to help with the moving process in return for fursuit help. Originally it was going to be a white set of ears and a tail since I needed to try out my new fox tail pattern. I supplied the materials, they helped cut and sew.
There hadn't been a design until one was inspired by one of my pelts(helped with the basics with that) and one of my spare foam bases was bought. Soon an ear/tail set turned into a head and tail. I helped tape and they cut the fur out and tried to sew the fur. I took over that for a little and finished the trimming when they accidentally gouged the fur. In the end I did most of it in the evenings while they cleaned a little and played on the Xbox.
Very suddenly things went from small parts to a full blown suit and while they cut and pinned, I ended up taking over on the machine to avoid any accidents(namely a needle going through a finger, itheir finger was only clipped). I was ok with it for the most part since it meant I was able to try out a few methods I wanted to improve so I could make some current client suits even better. Lately though this person has been 'loosing connection' with the character, sneering and whining about it, and wanting to sell it, suit and all, for something rather outlandish. We finished moving around the end of December so for two months they haven't had work to do to in place of me working. It's been nice to have the company but it's been a bit one sided. Here's where it gets tricky.
They are moving in April and they can't take the suit with them. I've practically made a full suit for free and it feels like a kick to the stomach when they're wanting something like 4k for a suit that, labor wise, hasn't been paid off. They are jobless so I know they won't be able to pay for it and I know their parents won't help seeing as the folks hate anything dealing with furs. What I'm tempted to do is pay them back for what they have put into it (materials, foam head base) and so they're free from the worry or figure out how she can pay for the rest of the work. No idea how for that thought though.
Any opinions are greatly appreciated, please keep it mature.
